The Lull Before The Storm

A very quiet week in front of us as we have just a couple of flat runners as the team put the finishing touches to the yard, stables and facilities. On Friday a couple of dozen horses will have their shoes on and start their pre-training as we get set for the main jumps season.

We have had a great summer so far; half the haylage is made and the grass gallops have been topped, railed, and are in good order. We have some new machines to keep the all-weather gallops in top condition and Bradley has a new tractor for farm and gallop work. A quiet time in January, not helped by the snow and ice should be thwarted with a new Gallopmaster and grubber to keep the woodchip and sand deep and frost free, and we have added nine new woodchip paddocks to provide mud free winter turnout.

We have added to the string this spring and summer and are on our way to Arqana to source some more youngsters with strong pedigrees. We have a number of horses for sale, both as a whole and in shares and details can be found on our FOR SALE page. Included is the most attractive and strong mare, Clearly Crazy; she is pictured above and has a mix of good form and a lovely way of going; she looks great value.

And so, as the empty stables start to have beds put down we will enjoy the final few peaceful days until the horses come back and the winter days seem closer.
